Sefer Hanosen Imrei Shefer, Frankfurt 1723 –
Signature of the Great Rabbi Yonasan Benyamin Estreicher of Tchenger

Sefer “Hanosen Imrei Shefer”, delightful sermons from the Maharnach, printed in Frankfurt, 1723 with the approbation of the revered Gaon the Maharsheishach author of “Kos HaYeshuos.”

At the top of the title page appears the sacred signature of Rabbi Yonasan Benyomin Estreicher, Rav of Tchenger: “Or Loi Betzion HaKatan Yonasan Benyomin Estreicher.” It was customary for him to sign with the opening words of the verse “Or Loi Betzion, ” likely hinting at his illustrious family name.

On the page of endorsements is a signature of Meir Leib Rozman, the nephew of the esteemed Rabbi Estreicher. He lived in the city of Helmetz and passed away in 1924.

Rabbi Yonasan Benyomin Estreicher (approx. 1790-1834), son of Rabbi Moshe Arye, Rav of Kroly, was a revered sage and saint. Blessed by the Berditchever from youth, The Yismach Moshe wrote of him: “I have found one out of a thousand, a righteous man.” He passed away young and was buried in Tchenger, where his successor, the Menuchas Asher, was also laid to rest. In his memory, many named their sons “Yonasan Benyomin.”

Signatures from him are exceedingly rare and, to the best of our knowledge, have never appeared in sales!
