Deed of an Inheritance lien in favor of the heirs of Ha’Gaon Rabbi Aharon Ausch, a favorite talmid of the Noda B’Yehuda. The dispute was about Reb Avraham’s inheritance and whether the inheritance belonged to Kehilas Mattersdorf or the heirs of Rabbi Aharon Ausch.

Signature of the Gaon and Tzadik Rabbi Meir Almasher (Popper) AB”D Mattersdorf father in law of the Tzadik Rabbi Asher Anschil Jungries AB”D Tchenger The Menichas Asher.

The deed also bears the signature of Meir, the son of Ha’gaon Rabbi Aharon Ausch, as well as other signatures.

The Gaon Rabbi Meir Almasher (Popper) of Mattersdorf (died 13 Kislev 5602 – 1842). In his younger years, he was a talmid of the ‘Mahara"m B’Rebbi’ of Preshburg. He then traveled to Pozna and joined the Yeshiva of Yosef HaTzadik, the son-in-law of the Noda B’Yehuda, who showed him a lot of affection and gifted him with the shtreimel and bekeshe of the Noda b’Yehuda (sefer Ha’Michtav Ha’Rishon). He was AB”D for many years in Almash and then became Rav in Bucharest, Romania. After a short time (1830), he was appointed Rav in Mattersdorf after the passing of Rabbi Simcha Bunim Eiger (1829), a brother of Rabbi Akiva Eiger. In 1835, a bitter dispute tore apart the Kehila in Mattersdorf. The Chasam Sofer sided with Ha’Gaon Rabbi Meir Almasher. However, he was forced to leave the city and joined his son-in-law, the Menichas Asher, in Tchenger.
