Letter from Reb Itzikel and Reb Yankele of Pshevorsk, inquiring about the health condition of the Satmar Rebbe and extending Mazel Tov wishes for the wedding of Reb Lipa the Beirach Moshe’s son – 1968
A mazel tov letter from the Admorim Reb Itzikl and Reb Yankele of Pshevorsk written on the 3rd day of Chesvan 1968 to Rabbi Yosel Ashkenazi, the gabbai of the Satmar Rebbe R. Yoel Teitelbaum, upon the marriage of his daughter to Rabbi Lipa Teitelbaum the Zenta Ruv Shlit"a son of the Beirach Moshe Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum.
The letter expresses the deep love and longing that the Pshevorsker Rebbe felt towards the Satmar Rebbe zy”a. This letter was written a few months after the Satmar Rebbe became ill. The letter states that Rabbi Yossel Ashkenazi is Meshamesh B’kodesh Kodoshim.
In the customary manner of the court of Pshevorsk, the Rebbe marks the beginning of the letter’s first four lines with the acronym of the word AHAVAH. He goes on to bentch Reb Yossel with brachos for the upcoming wedding.
Further in the letter, he writes: "May it be the will that the Rebbe Ha’Kodosh, Rabbi Yoel ben Chana have a refuah sheleimah swiftly and completely, and may his strength and intellect be strengthened…, He then asks if the Rebbe enjoys visitors. One can infer from the letter that the Pshevorsker Rebbe wanted to come from Belgium to visit the Satmar Rebbe.
The Pshevorsker Rebbe concludes the letter with a brochah and signs with his full name, Moshe Yitzchok, grandson of Rabban shel Yisrael, Reb Elimelech zy"a.
In the margins of the first page of the letter and on the second side of the letter, the Pshevorsker rebbe’s son-in-law and successor, Reb Yankele Leiser, added his brochos to Reb Yossef Ashkenazi and concluded with a brocha for a refuah sheleimah for the Rebbe Yoel ben Chana.
