The first Rebbe of the Koidenov dynasty, Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Perlow, was born in 1797 to his father Rabbi Aharon ben Rabbi Mordechai of Lechowitz (Lachowicze) (1742-1810) who was the son-in-law of Rabbi Asher of Stolin son of Reb Aharon Ha’godol of Karlin. He was orphaned as a child and raised by his grandfather, Rabbi Asher. After his uncle, the Rebbe Noach of Lechowitz, passed away (1831), most Lechowitzer Chasidim joined his court.

People from all over Russia and Lithuania would come to him and he was known as a po’el yeshuos and oved Hashem with mesiras nefesh. He passed away 1862. After his passing, his sons and grandsons led large Chasidic courts until the holocaust. It was one of the largest Chasidus in Russia after Lubavitch and Karlin.

The Gaon Rabbi Shalom of Brahin (1851-1926) was the son of Rabbi Baruch Mordechai, the ‘Middle Rebbe’ of Koidenov, did not serve as a Rebbe but became famous from his seforim Divrei Shalom and Mishmeres Shalom and many more seforim. In his sefer Mishmeres Shalom, he reconciles the minhagim of Chasidim with halacha and explains how the minhagim have a firm footing in halacha.

Rabbi Yitzchak Perlow, Ba’al Va’Ye’etar Yitzchak, was a great-grandson of Rabbi Shalom Chaim of Koidenov. His father, Rabbi Dov Moshe, died at a young age, and he grew up by his grandfather, Rabbi Baruch Mordechai of Koidenov. He served as AB"D of Viliaki (Viļaka) (in the Minsk district of Belarus), where there was a large community of more than 1300 Jews. He was a known Mekubal and even reprinted a number of Sifrei Kabbalah from Ha’Gaon Rabbi Yosef Giqatilla. In his sefer Erez B’Levanon Vilna 1899, he printed the tzava’ah and hanhagos of his great grandfather Rabbi Shalom Chaim of Koidenov.

Sefer passed down in the Koidenov dynasty!
