The neighbors seek to destroy the yeshiva… A plea for assistance from Ha’Gaon Rabbi Michael Ber Weissmandel – Yeshivas Nitra 1953

An emotional plea for help from Rabbi Michoel Ber Weissmandel zatza"l to Rabbi Yeshaya Ha’Levi Horowitz to rescue Yeshivas Nitra from those seeking to destroy it.

Rabbi Michael Ber describes the difficult situation of the Nitra Yeshiva. He begs for help and writes… our bad neighbors have thought of a plot to destroy our property… and we need help to save that which is ours…

Ha’Gaon Rabbi Michoel Ber Weissmandel (1904-1958) was one of the greatest activists to save European Jewry during the Holocaust. He was the son-in-law of the Nitra Rav Rabbi Shmuel Dovid Ungar who handpicked his talmid as his daughter’s husband. During the Holocaust, he put in a lot of effort to save Hungarian Jewry. However, the Zionists sabotaged his work. After the war, he moved to New York, where he reestablished the well-known Nitra Yeshiva. Among his many students, there are prominent Gedolim and Rabbonim. He authored the seforim Min Ha’Meitzar, Toras Chemed, and other seforim.

One handwritten letter on Nitra Yeshiva stationery, written on both sides of paper, hole punched in margins.
