A letter of approbation from Rabbi Yosef Zvi Dushinsky – Budapest 1933

A letter of recommendation dated Yom Gimel Parshas Shoftim 1933 From the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Zvi Dushinsky of Jerusalem. Written during his trip to become Rav of Yerushalayim. It is written using the letterhead of his previous community, Chust, and details that he is now in Pest on his way to Eretz Yisrael.


Rabbi Yosef Zvi Dushinsky (1867-1949) was one of the greatest Hungarian Rabbonim, and later Rav and AB"D in Yerushalayim, was the prime student of the Shevet Sofer. In 1890, he married the daughter of Rabbi Mordechai Winkler, the Levushei Mordechai of Ma’ad. A year later, he was appointed Rav in Galanta, where he opened a prominent yeshiva. In 1921, he became Rav in Chust, and his yeshiva moved with him to Chust, becoming one of the largest yeshivas in Hungary. After the passing of Rabbi Yosef Chaim Zonnenfeld, he was crowned as Rav and AB"D of the Edah Hacharedis in Yerushalayim. He moved To E.Y. with several talmidim and founded yeshivas Beis Yosef Zvi. Those first few talmidim became the base of the burgeoning Chasidus Dushinsky.
