"For it is entirely filled with fear of Hashem and the beginning of wisdom" (The Gra) – Mishlei with the Commentary of the Gra, Shklov 5558 – The First Published Work of the Gra!
Mishlei, with the commentary of Rabbeinu Eliyahu of Vilna, the Gra, printed in Shklov, 5558 – First Edition.
A unique copy with wide margins!
The very first sefer of the Gra! The sefer before us was printed by the holy Gaon, Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Shklov, a talmid of the Gra, who writes that he printed this work at the Gra’s directive:
"Behold, this commentary on Sefer Mishlei, during his lifetime, he instructed me time and again that it should be printed before any of his other seforim, for it is entirely filled with yiras Hashem and the beginning of wisdom…"
The Peirush HaGra on Sefer Mishlei is considered one of his most fundamental works, and in recent years, several seforim have been written to elucidate the depth of his intentions and allusions in this sacred commentary.
