Pesikta Zutrasa (Lekach Tov), Venice 1546 – First Edition – Magnificent Copy!
Pesikta Zutrasa, Midrashic teachings and commentaries on Vayikra, Bamidbar, and Devorim, authored by Rabbi Toviah ben Eliezer, printed by Daniel Bomberg, Venice, 1546 – First Edition.
Why is it called "Lekach Tov"
This Midrash is called "Lekach Tov" because it always begins on a positive note, with the words "betov" or "betovah", and also as an allusion to the name of its author, Rabbi Toviah.
The author, Rabbeinu Toviah ben Eliezer, was one of the great Rishonim who lived 800 years ago in Greece. He compiled and arranged numerous Midrashim that were in his possession (many of which have been lost to us) and incorporated them into his commentary on the Torah.
This sefer is one of the most important Midrashic works on the Torah and is cited thousands of times in later works of drush!
