The book was composed in the year 1700, but was first printed only in 1797. Here it is again printed in the sacred printing press of Zhitomir by the revered Rabbi Chaninah Lipa and Rabbi Yehoshua HaAshel Shapira, grandsons of the Rabbi of Slavuta.
The holy Gaon Rabbi Eliahu HaKohen of Izmir, author of ‘Shvut Musar’ (died 1829), was one of the greatest mussar scholars of all generations and a preacher in the city of Izmir. Among his well-known books are ‘Shvut Musar’, ‘Midrash Talpiyot’, ‘Megaleh Tzafonot’ on the Torah, and ‘Me’il Tzedakah’, all of which are studied diligently in Jewish communities worldwide.
