Rabbi Avraham Abish Horowitz of Melitz, Galicia, Av Beis Din of Kruli, zt”l.

Rabbi Avraham Abish Horowitz, Hy”d (1897–1944), A Gaon and Tzaddik of extraordinary stature, a descendant of Rabbi Naftali of Ropshitz, and the son of the Rebbe of Melitz. Already in his youth, he was ordained by the Gedolei HaDor. Son-in-law Admur HaKadosh
the ‘Chakal Yitzchak’ of Spinka. When the Chakal Yitzchak relocated from Spinka to Munkatch, he appointed his son-in-law, Rabbi Avraham Abish, as Av Beis Din of Spinka. From 1934, he served as Av Beis Din of Kareli, where he founded a yeshiva with approximately 100 talmidim.
His son was the renowned
Spinka Rebbe, affectionately known as ‘Reb Hershele Spinker, ’ zt”l. His son-in-law was
Rabbi Yaakov Yosef Weiss of Spinka, zt”l. He is the patriarch of many of today’s Spinka Rebbes.
