A very interesting Letter from the Satmar Rebbe, to His Rebbetzin, entirely in the Yiddish language, Concerned About Her Health

A holy letter, entirely in the Ksav Yad Kodesh of Maran Rabbeinu HaKadosh of Satmar, zy”a, written in the city of Satmar in 5703, addressed to his Rebbetzin, the Tzaddekes, a”h, who at that time underwent a difficult surgery in the capital city of Pest, y’al. He inquires about her health, instructs her to take care of her well-being, and also mentions details regarding his brother-in-law, the Gaon and Tzaddik, Rav Chaim Meir Yechiel of Rejnishev, Hy”d, who had been taken captive.

This holy letter reveals a glimpse of how Rabbeinu carried on his heart the matzav of his Rebbetzin’s health, how he worried for her well-being, and how he guided her with mesirus nefesh to take care of herself properly.

He responded to her
immediately upon receiving her letter
"Dein brief hob ich erhalten yetzt Donnershtig far nacht, tzu Mincha. Ich antworteh dich tzugleich noch Maariv."

He instructs her to rest properly
"Darf men zeyer farzichtig zein, say mit der car, un mit dem arim gein, rihn un liggen, nicht shtripeziren [shpatziren?]."

She should eat at least five times a day
"Oif alleh falls zolst di dich git plegein, finf mol in tog essin, un nor rihn, nicht far gering halten."

Regarding the matzav of his brother-in-law, the

Rabbeinu concludes his letter with a bracha
"Hashem Yisborach zol zich meracheim zein bekarov oif dem gantzen Klal Yisroel, un mir zollen zoiche zein bimheiro tzu aleh yeshu’os toivos. V’hineni ba’aleich, metzapeh l’Rachmei Shomayim merubim u’liYeshuah k’roivoh. HaKoton Yoel Teitelbaum.
