Gemara Shabbos, Printed in Warsaw 1859, Belonging to the Holy Gaon Rabbi Yoel Velitchker Zt"l, Av Beis Din of Tresif
A Gemara in Maseches Shabbos, printed in Warsaw in the year 1859, that belonged to the holy gaon Rabbi Yoel Velitchker-Ashkenazi Zt"l, Av Beis Din of Tresif. It bears his seal on the title page and his signature on the flyleaf. The flyleaf also includes the note:
"Belongs to the holy gaon Rabbi Maran Yoel Velitchker, Av Beis Din of Tresif and the Galil…"
This Gemara was in the possession of many Torah scholars over the years, and there are several different signatures recorded on it. The book shows clear signs of use, with noticeable wear and tear.
The holy gaon Rabbi Yoel Velitchker-Ashkenazi Zt"l was the son of the holy gaon Rabbi Itzikel Velitchker Zt"l, Rebbe of Alesk-Stanislaw, and son-in-law of the holy gaon Rabbi Asher Anshel Ashkenazi Zt"l of Alesk-Stanislaw, and grandson of the holy gaon Rabbi Yoel Ashkenazi Zt"l, Av Beis Din of Zlotchov. Rabbi Asher Anshel was the son-in-law of the holy gaon, the paradigm of the generation, the Or Sameach from Alesk Zt"l.
Rabbi Yoel was also the son-in-law of the holy gaon Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum of Tetesh Zt"l, who was the son and successor of the holy gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Betzalel Teitelbaum Zt"l, and the grandson of Maran the holy gaon, the Saba Kaddisha, the Yeitav Lev Zt"l.
The remaining writings of Rabbi Yoel were published in 2014 under the title Sha’arit Yoel.
