Chasam Sofer – Chiddushei Sugyos – From the Holy Gaon of Nasaud, zt”l, and His Distinguished Descendants
A precious copy of Chiddushei Sugyos of the Chasam Sofer, which belonged to the
holy Gaon Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Freund, zt”l, Av Beis Din of Nasaud, and later to his son, the
holy Gaon Rabbi Yisrael Freund, zt”l, Av Beis Din of Hunyad. The sefer was then inherited by his illustrious grandsons:
The Gaon and Tzaddik, Rabbi Baruch Freund, Hy”d, Av Beis Din of Hunyad.
The Gaon and Kadosh, Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Freund, zt”l, Gaavad of Yerushalayim.
Historic Inscriptions and Stamps
On the front endpaper, Rabbi Baruch Freund of Hunyad inscribed:
"Belongs to my honored grandfather, the holy Gaon, a pillar of Torah… Moreinu HaRav Avraham Yehoshua Freund, shlit”a, Av Beis Din of Interdam, etc. – His grandson, the katan, Baruch Freund.”
Later, Rabbi
Moshe Aryeh Freund, zt”l, Gaavad of Jerusalem, added:
"Belongs to my honored father, the Gaon, the righteous tzaddik, chassid, and perush… Moreinu HaRav Yisrael Freund, Av Beis Din of Radna and the surrounding region, yitz”u. – The katan, Moshe Aryeh Freund.”
Additionally, the sefer bears stamps from:
Rabbi Baruch Freund, zt”l, during his tenure as Av Beis Din of Hunyad (referred to in their dialect as “the Vaadin”).
Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Freund, zt”l, from his time as a Dayan in Satmar and later as Gaavad of Jerusalem.
