Bedek HaBayis by Maran the Beis Yosef, Venice 1606

Bedek HaBayis, completions and additions to the Beis Yosef by the author, Rabbi Yosef Karo, Venice 1606.

The first edition was printed about a year before this one in Salonika and is exceedingly rare.

After the sefer Beis Yosef became widespread, The Beis Yosef returned to review and complete it, calling these additions
"Bedek HaBayis". In his introduction to this work, the Beis Yosef writes: "…After Hashem helped me to compose the sefer Beis Yosef, and it spread throughout the Jewish world, Hashem further assisted me to revisit it, and I innovated new insights, additions, and glosses… It was my intention that when it would be reprinted, these innovations would be included, but it did not happen…"

These innovations have been incorporated over the generations into the text of the Beis Yosef itself and are now part of his work.
A first edition set of Beis Yosef without the sefer before us is considered an incomplete work, contrary to the will of the holy author.
