An emotional letter of the Chidushei HaRim of Ger – remarkable encouragement for hasmadah in Torah learning during youth!

”תראה להתמיד בלימודך ולעזוב מנהגי ילדות… במיטב השנים אשר אין לך שום דאגה… וייטב לך בזה ובבא בכל הדברים” –

A heartfelt letter from Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Alter, the Chidushei HaRim of Ger, Zy"a, to his nephew, his brother’s orphaned son Reuvein.

In the letter,
the Rebbe laments that his nephew is not diligent in Torah study and is instead pursuing money. For the sake of his Father in Shamayim, he pleads with him to engage in Torah and Yiras Shamayim, “abandon childish ways, for if not now,
in the prime of your years when you have no worries, and you create worries for yourself from empty nonsense… You have intelligence, and with Hashem’s help, if you desire, you will become a lamdan and a Yarei Shamayim… It is fitting that you have mercy on my brother, your late father, Z"L, whose primary concern and toil was for you to engage in Torah and Yiras Shamayim, and especially now that he is in Olam HaEmes…"

He concludes with a promise that if he follows his words, "…
it will be good for you in this world and the next in all matters"

The Blessing of the Tzaddik Bore Fruit! The recipient of this letter, ‘the young Reuven, ‘ heeded his great uncle’s words, becoming the renowned Gaon Rabbi Avraham Chaim Reuven Yechiel Rotenberg, Av Beis Din of Woydislav, author of Shifsei Avraham, son of Rabbi Yaakov Yosef, brother of the Chidushei HaRim.

Letters of the Chidushei HaRim are extremely rare, especially with such great exceptional content, written entirely in his holy handwriting and signature!
