Appeal and Request Letter from Maran HaGaon ‘the Brisker Ruv – Brisk, 1937
A letter of appeal, written by the esteemed and renowned Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Zev Halevi Soloveitchik (‘the Brisker Ruv’) and the Gaon Rabbi Yisroel Chaim Kaplan, head of the ‘Torat Chesed’ Yeshiva in Brisk, addressed to Rabbi Gurewitz of Melbourne Australia.
".. 21st of Adar, 1937… as the emissary of our yeshiva ‘Torat Chesed’, we request your attention and great assistance. Please watch over him, ensure his continuous well-being under your auspices, and once again, we request that you heed our plea. Our yeshiva, founded forty years ago by the saintly Chassid, Maran Rabbi Chaim Soloveitchik, stands in dire straits… We conclude with the blessings of Torah, hoping that we all merit witnessing the elevation of the Torah and Israel. May Zion be rebuilt in mercy upon its return, and we all will merit the rise of the Torah and Israel in joy."
