"1896 – Kretinga… additions and amendments to the sefer Ma’aseh Rav…. Copied from the manuscript found by Ha’Gaon Rabbi Hirsh Broda of Salant, and from a second manuscript in the home of my grandfather Rabbi Zev Wolf author of Haghos Ben Ari al Ha’Shas…"

Rabbi Aryeh Leib Lipkin is one of the most reliable sources of Toras Ha’Gra; therefore, the value of this manuscript is immeasurable.

Rabbi Aryeh Leib Lipkin was a nephew of the founder of the Mussar Movement Rabbi Yisroel Salanter, He was Rav in Kretinga and dealt extensively with the Gra’s teachings of Kabbalah. He published the seforim Eimrei Noam on maseches Brachos from the Gra with his own glosses to the sefer. About the year 1840 there was an awakening in Lithuania to learn kabbalah, and a large demand for the seforim of the Ramcha”l and the Gra on kabbalah. He anonymously published the seforim Adir Ba’Marom, Kalac”h Pischei Chchma, Sefer Ha’Ilan with his own commentary. His seforim are: ‘Klalei Haschalas Ha’Chochma’ the basics of kabbalah learning, sefer ‘Or Ha’Yom’ on the zemanei bein ha’shmashos according to the Gra and many other sefarim. For more details see R.
