A letter written during the Holocaust by Ha’Gaon Rabbi Yechezkel Abramsky Author of Chazon Yechezkel
Handwritten personal letter from Ha’Gaon Rabbi Yechezkel Abramsky to Rabbi Yehuda Leib Gurowitz of Melbourne Australia, imploring him to help a Polish refugee. "has been forced to leave his birthplace and left behind a wife and children, please extend your support in Australia…." Erev Shabbos Parsha Balak 1938.
Ha’Gaon Rabbi Yechezkel Abramsky (1886-1976), one of the post-Holocaust Gedolim was a close Talmud of the Alter of Navordhak; as a youngster, he was known for his tremendous hasmada. After his marriage, he learned by the Brisker Rav. He was Rav in several small towns and became the AB"D in Slutzk after Ha’Gaon Rabbi Isser Zalmen Meltzer – author of Even Ha’Ezel, moved to Eretz Yisrael. In 1920, he was arrested by the Russians and exiled to Siberia. After pressure from Gedolei Yisrael, he was released, moved to London, and appointed as the Rav of Machzikei Ha’Da’as. In 1951, he moved to Eretz Yisrael and was appointed Rosh Yeshivas Slabodka in Bnei Brak and Nossi of the Va’ad Ha’Yeshivos. His work Chazon Yechezkel. Among his students, is Ha’Gaon Rabbi Y. M. Shulzinger, author of sefer Mishmar Ha’Levi, Ha’Gaon Rabbi Avraham Ganichovsky Rosh Yeshivas Tchebin, Ha’Gaon Rabbi Yitzchok Zilberstein Ba’al Chashukei Chemed and many other leading Rabbonim in Bnei Brak.
