"Pelpulah Chariftah" – Torah Innovations by the Illustrious Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein, Rosh Yeshiva of Slobodka and Author of ‘Levush Mordechai’ ZT"L
Pelpulah Chariftah on the Sugya in Kesuvos (Daf 2) regarding the halacha of a condition if "he dies from this illness", written by the illustrious Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein, Rosh Yeshiva of Slobodka and author of ‘Levush Mordechai’.
Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein (Tarkh"V – Tz"V) was the Rosh Yeshiva of Slobodka, born in Lithuania in the city of Bakst (near Vilna), to his father, the Rav of the city. He was a student at the Volozhin Yeshiva and became famous as an outstanding genius. Upon reaching adulthood, he was taken as a son-in-law by the great Rabbi Naftali Tzvi Berlin (‘the Netziv’). Rabbi Epstein was asked by his father-in-law, the ‘Saba of Slobodka’, to lead the yeshiva he established in the city, where he taught Torah to thousands until the yeshiva moved to Eretz Yisrael in 1925. His son-in-law and successor in leading the yeshiva was the esteemed Rabbi Yitzchak Zev Soloveitchik ZT"L.
Among his famous students was Rabbi Aharon Kotler ZT"L.
Upon review of the Otzar HaChochma, this specific set of ideas does not appear verbatim, although it is discussed in his book ‘Levush Mordechai’ (Kesuvos there).
