A letter of request from the esteemed and renowned Rabbi Meir Klein of Ohel, Z”L, Rabbi and Torah disseminator in the community of Ohel in Hungary, author of “Toldos Shmuel, ” on the 15th of Shevat 5701, to Rabbi Yaakov Shachter, Rabbi in Belfast (the capital of Northern Ireland, Britain), to whom he sends his seforim and asks for their price, hinting that his situation is dire and difficult and requesting his assistance, considering it a great mitzvah.

The Gaon Rabbi Meir Klein, ZTZ”L, was among the distinguished Torah scholars in the city, Ohel. He was also famous for his Yiras Shamaim, surpassing his wisdom, and he prayed with fervor in the shul, which was the center of the entire city. He gained prominence in the world of Torah through his wonderful works “Toldos Shmuel” on the 613 Mitzvos, in which he revealed his strength to clarify many aspects of Torah in detail and precision. The book “Toldos Shmuel” was printed with the approval of the great scholars of his generation, including Rabbi Mordechai Zuckerman, Av Beis Din of Medzhybizh, Rabbi Shlomo Engle, Av Beis Din of Radomysla, and Rabbi Yosef Chaim Zonenfeld, Gaavad of Yerushalaim. At the end of the third part of his book, a letter with comments from the Grand Rabbi Munkacz, the Minchas Elozor, is also printed.

Rabbi Yaakov Shachter served as a rabbi in the city of Galatz in Romania and later in Manchester, England. In 1925, he was appointed as the Chief Rabbi of Belfast and the Chief Rabbi of Northern Ireland. He passed away on Tuesday, the 3rd of Kislev, 1972.
