"Bechol Asher Yifneh Yatzliach, Veyishlach Refuah Sheleimah, Veyizkeh Legadel Banav" – A Letter from Hagaon Hatzaddik R’ Yitzchak Eizik Adler, Av Beis Din of Seredna

A historical letter from Hagaon Rabbi Yitzchak Eizik Adler zt”l, Av Beis Din of Seredna, dated Erev Shabbos Parshas Vayigash, 5689 [1929], addressed to his dear friend Moreinu Harav Eliezer [ben Breina] Ballag z”l of Baden, Switzerland (from one of Switzerland’s distinguished families).

In the letter, he expresses his deep gratitude for the Pidyon Nefesh donation he received:
"Davar be’ito mah tov" – emphasizing how timely the contribution was given the pressing financial circumstances of the time.

He writes:
"Ve’ani hatza’ir ma’ateir be’ado leHashem, Hashomea kol tefillos peh, she’Hashem yisbarach ya’azor lo bechol asher yifneh yatzliach, veyishlach refuah sheleimah lezugaso… veyizkeh legadel banav uvenosav al derech haTorah v’hayirah… ve’ezkeh lishmoa mimcha rak tov."

Additionally, he sends regards to his recipient’s brother, the pious R’ Moshe Ballag, and extends a heartfelt blessing to his wife (daughter of Rabbi Moshe Bunim Krois zt”l), mentioning her and her mother’s names, praying that she should have an easy birth and be a joyous mother of children.

At the conclusion of the letter, he writes:
"I have completed the inscription for a stone monument and have given it over to my uncle R’ Eliyahu to send to you, and I hope it will bring satisfaction to his soul in Gan Eden."

This refers to the matzeivah inscription for their father, the pious R’ Yisrael Ballag z”l, who had passed away the previous year, 5688 [1928].

The letter was written on a postcard, with names and addresses inscribed in Latin characters on the reverse.

Rabbi Yitzchak Eizik Adler zt”l (5650–5696 [1890–1936]) was of illustrious lineage and a distinguished Rav, serving as the Av Beis Din of Seredna, succeeding his revered father, Hagaon Hatzaddik R’ Menachem Yehuda Adler zt”l.
