Pulmos: At the beginning of the Sefer, there is an introduction from the author’s son-in-law, the Rishon L’Tzion, Rabbi Chaim Avraham Gagin, author of Chukei Chayim, also known as ‘HaRav Aga"n. There, he writes about the controversy surrounding his appointment as the ‘Rishon L’tzion. In the year 5602, the positions of Rishon L’Tzion (AB "D of Jerusalem) and the position of Chacham Bashi were unified. Rabbi Gagin had both positions.
