Sefer Kaneh Chochma – Wilhelmsdorf 1730
Sefer Kaneh Chochma is attributed to the illustrious Gaon Rabbi Elkanah ben Yeruchom and teaches the kavonos of kriyas shema, including the deep kabbalistic secrets of shem Hashem and the seventy-two letter shem. Wilhermsdorf 1730. Second Edition.
The sefer includes the commentary Kaneh Binah by the mekubal Eliezer Altschuler, a talmid of the Maharshal.
Ha’ Gaon Rabbi Eliezer ben R. Avraham Chanoch Altschuler, author of Kaneh Binah (-1632), was a famous mekubal and Rav of the city Chelm in Poland. He was a descendant of the Mhar"i Chayus of Provence, Spain. The family left Spain during the Spanish Inquisition and settled in Prague, where they adopted the surname Altschuler. He was the prime disciple of the Maharshal and the Maharam Lublin. In 1610, he printed the sefer Ha’Kaneh in Prague with his commentary Kaneh Binah. In 1616 he printed the Maharshal’s chidushim Yam shel Shlomo from the ksav yad of the Maharshal.
"Those who are Mispalell every day will be saved from evil during death. The Malach Ha’moves will not have control over them, and they will not suffer from chibut ha’kever." (pg 17 in the Maharshal’s name).
The title page has the inscription "Ha’K Shemuel ben Leizer Pollak.
