A handwritten letter with the signature of the holy and righteous Rabbi Chaim Leib Goldberger ZT"L, Av Beis Din of Svalyeve, from Thursday, Parshas Pinchas, year 1938, to the renowned rabbi and man of deeds, Rabbi Eliyahu Young Z"L, known as Dr. Young, who headed the Torah-supporting organization in New York.
The holy gaon of Svalyeve ZT"L requested from Dr. Young a generous contribution for the students of his yeshiva, who were learning Torah under difficult circumstances, with very limited support. He also mentions his own difficult financial situation and asks for assistance towards his son’s wedding.
Rabbi Chaim Leib Goldberger ZT"L was born in 1879 to his father, the holy Rabbi Shalom Goldberger ZT"L, Av Beis Din of Svalyeve and author of "Divrei Shalom." After his father’s passing in 1918, he took over as the rabbi of Svalyeve and managed a prestigious yeshiva there, serving as the last rabbi of Svalyeve.
