Chavas Daas – First edition, printed in Yosefa in 1827, published during the lifetime of the author. This sefer originally belonged to his father, the holy Rabbi Shimon ZT"L, Av Beis Din of Balasha-Yarmut, as confirmed by his son, the Gaon from Almatz, in his inscription:
"This sefer belongs to my revered father, may he rest in peace. I, his son and humble disciple, the holy Yoel Zev Glattstein." Several corrections and comments in his handwriting are found throughout the sefer.
Yeitav Lev (Part 2) on Vayikra, Bamidbar, and Devarim, with his signature:
"The holy Yoel Zev Glattstein, " and also his stamp in foreign language.
Sefer Zohar, printed in Vilna in 1895, on the Book of Shemos, also with the signature of the holy Gaon ZT"L.
The Gaon Rabbi Yoel Zev Glattstein ZT"L HY"D was born in 1872 to his father, the holy Rabbi Shimon ZT"L, Av Beis Din of Yasoyah and Balasha-Yarmut. He learned Torah from the holy Rabbi Simcha Bunim Ehrenfeld ZT"L, Av Beis Din of Matersdorf, and from the holy Rabbi Neta Shorak of Tchatta ZT"L. He married the daughter of the holy Gaon Rabbi Yosef Wald ZT"L, Av Beis Din of Almatz, and in 1906, after his father-in-law’s passing, he succeeded him in the rabbinate. He managed a large yeshiva and taught Torah to many students. He wrote many chidushim, some of which were published after the war by the survivors of the Almatz community in the sefer Nachlas Yoel Zev.
He was a man of all talents, an extraordinary orator, humble and modest, a man of action, and one of the greatest and most respected rabbis in Slovakia. He learned under the holy Rabbi Menachem Elazar of Munkacs ZT"L and the holy Rabbi Or MiKassan ZT"L. When the revered Satmar Rebbe ZT"L was in Almatz, he would regularly visit the Av Beis Din, Rabbi Yoel Zev, and they would spend hours discussing Torah.
