The sons also recount but a fraction of his praises, including firsthand accounts of astounding events:
"And what our eyes beheld on the day of his passing cannot be fully expressed, for he sanctified himself like the fiery seraphim, engaging in profound unifications and boundless fervor, without pause, until his soul cleaved to the supernal light… He afflicted himself all his life ‘with fire’ and water’… His boundless charity, dispensed with his pure hands, sustained hundreds and thousands of paupers, widows, and orphans. And until he had provided for their daily needs, he would not bring sustenance into his own home. His charity amounted to thousands upon thousands in silver each year…"

Sefer Divrei Yechezkel on the Torah and Festivals, and novellae on the Talmud, by the holy Rabbi Yechezkel Shraga Halberstam of Shinova ZT"L.
First Edition, Podgórze – Kraków, 1901.

The holy Rav of Shinova ZT"L was born in 1815, the eldest son of his holy father, the Baal Divrei Chaim of Tzanz ZT"L. From childhood, he was recognized for his brilliance and was beloved by the tzaddikim of the generation. In 1856, he began serving as the Rav of Shinova, for which he became known for generations. His father esteemed and revered him, often consulting with him. Even during his father’s lifetime, he was already a Rebbe to thousands. He was renowned as a righteous and brilliant Torah giant, a miracle worker, under whose shadow the greatest leaders of the generation sought refuge. The holy gaon of Shamloi said of him (Even Shlomo, Parshas Vayechi) that "through him comes abundance of livelihood." In 1876, he formally began serving as Rebbe and was considered the great successor of his father, drawing multitudes from across Galicia. He passed away in 1899.
