Sefer Ma’aseh L’Melech from the Treasury of the Holy Gaon of Krasna, Zy”a – with His Sacred Signature


Sefer Ma’aseh L’Melech, second volume, authored by the holy gaon, Rabbi Yeshaya Silberstein of Veitzen, zy”a, first edition, Ungvar 5690 (1930), which belonged to the holy gaon, Rabbi Hillel Lichtenstein of Krasna, zy”a, and bears his sacred signature on the title page.

The holy gaon, Rabbi Yeshaya Silberstein, zy”a, Av Beis Din of Veitzen and author of Ma’aseh L’Melech, was the son and successor of the holy gaon, the Shevilei Dovid, zy”a. He was one of the great and distinguished rabbis of Hungary, served as a leader in the rabbinic council (Lishkas HaKanzelay), and worked tirelessly to strengthen Yiddishkeit, establish students, and author several significant and valuable sfarim.

The holy gaon, Rabbi Hillel Lichtenstein, zy”a, Av Beis Din of Krasna—before the war, he served as the young Rav of Krasna alongside his father, the holy gaon, Rabbi Baruch Bendit, zy”a, Hy”d, Av Beis Din of Krasna. He was the son-in-law of the holy gaon, Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ehrenreich, zy”a, Hy”d, Av Beis Din of Shimloi. After the war, he became one of the leading poskim and worked extensively to resolve the plight of agunos whose husbands were murdered al kiddush Hashem. He waged Hashem’s battle with great fervor, establishing fences to safeguard Klal Yisroel. He founded and established the Krasna community in America and was among the prominent rabbonim in the United States.
