Sefer Chasidus – Be’er Mayim Chayim – First Edition, a Standalone Sefer
The sefer Be’er Mayim Chayim, a commentary on the Torah in the path of Chasidus, written by the holy author who became known as the Be’er Mayim Chayim ZT"L, was printed in Czernowitz, 1849, without the name of the printer.
On the title page: "Kesher N" in Mehalov. Five parts in one volume, with separate title pages.
This is the first edition of the sefer Be’er Mayim Chayim, printed as a standalone sefer without the Chumash (this work was first printed together with the Chumash in Sadiikav, 1820).
The Be’er Mayim Chayim is one of the foundational and well-known sfarim of Chassidus. The holy Ohev Yisrael of Apte writes in his approbation for the first edition: "We are well aware of the desire and will of that tzaddik, who throughout his days longed to enlighten the masses with his holy words… and many were brought back to the right path… May the merit of the author stand for us, to merit our souls, spirits, and neshamos with light, until the coming of the Redeemer."
In the approbation of Rabbi Mordechai of Kremenitz (son of the holy Maggid of Zlotchov ZT"L), he speaks of his father’s great love for the author: "What I have seen and known from the sweetness and fondness of my father, the holy, famous chassid… Rabbi Yechiel Michel ZT"L, who loved him deeply, as the apple of his eye, and his love for him was eternal."
