Rabbeinu Yerucham with the endorsements of the holy Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev and the Gaon of Vilna’s disciple, Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin – Kapost, Teksiv, 1808.

The foundational halachic book Toldot Adam ve’Chava and Sefer Misharim, authored by our teacher Rabbeinu Yerucham ben Shmuel of Provence, consists of three parts: Toldot Adam – laws from a person’s birth to his marriage, Toldot Chava – laws from marriage until death, and Sefer Misharim – regarding laws of monetary matters.

This book was printed for the second time by Rabbi Mordechai ben Shmuel Segal Horowitz from Kapost, by the printing partners Rabbi Avraham ben Yaakov Segal and Rabbi Yitzchak ben Shmuel, in Kapost, 1808. Due to the warning of the Chida not to print commentaries on Rabbeinu Yerucham’s works, only a few editions were published, including the one we present here.

The book features crucial endorsements, notably from the defender of Israel, the holy Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev, and further endorsements from additional great figures, starting with the Gaon Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin, a leading student of the Gaon of Vilna.

These two great figures, both of similar age and active in the same period, rarely appear side by side in endorsements on the same page, making this an exceptionally rare occurrence of endorsements from both the great Chassidic saints and the Torah giants of the generation.

On the title page and the foreword page, there are stamps: "Property of Tzvi Cohen of Brisk, " and a foreign inscription from the Czenstochow region on the back of the title page.
