A letter in the handwriting of the holy Rabbi Eliezer Ze’ev Marilos of Botshatsh – regarding the sending of charity funds – Botshatsh, 1901. The rabbi requests to receive receipts in the names of the benefactors who donated the charity money being sent.
Rabbi Eliezer Ze’ev Marilos of Botshatsh (d. 1946), son of Rabbi Yosef Aharon of Botshatsh, married the daughter of Rabbi Yaakov Mordechai Lieberman, Av Beit Din of Toprov. As a young scholar, he became close to the holy Rabbi "D’vrei Chaim" of Sanz, and lived for twelve years in his father-in-law’s home, Rabbi Yitzchak Marilos of Ropshitz, adopting the surname Marilos. He served as the rabbi of Pshatzlov and, following his father’s passing in 1913, took over as the Av Beit Din of Botshatsh, where he led both as a rabbi and spiritual guide for his chassidim. He was known for his generosity to the poor, his fasting and ascetic practices, and his sharp, analytical Torah scholarship. In 1926, he published his father’s Torah work "Yad Yosef." He passed away in a righteous death on a Friday night. His son, Rabbi Menashe, succeeded him in leadership.
This letter is rare, fully in his handwriting and signed by him!
